Sivan Alyra Rose, Actress

A brief history of how I found myself in Hollywood is that I was a young (changing) woman who wanted to know independence and do something important with her life. I couldn't afford college, minimum wage jobs make you go crazy, and I just wanted to be able to say I gave my dreams an honest try. Opting to audition as an actress in Los Angeles with little experience is ballsy, but that's just my character. Interviews, press tour, and fancy P.R. was a world I did not know first-hand, but it was a world I was comfortable in. I think I could really thrive under pressure.

I've expressed publicly that with this position of influence I don't want to be seen as a “role model.” I believe humans are very diverse and unique in their conception of reality. I don't want to encourage someone to think my life is some kind of pinnacle, that I am some omnipresent being of fame and fortune. Competition can be ugly. Being an inspiration, however, is okay. Let my fire fuel yours. Burn bright!

Since Chambers I've had access and opportunity to hone my creativity, trust, and self-love. Auditions and meetings can be fun, but with the opening of my independent art studio, You’ve Been Invited Studios, I've found truth and healing in the arts. It's a big blow to the heart (no pun intended) having a project like Chambers get the boot, but Sasha Yazzie lives on. That's enough to keep me inspired for lifetimes.

in my bag—

A bag is the final touch of an outfit. I believe a bag can set an entire look on its own. What's in that bag is just as important. It's the on-the-go essentials! The 3 items I always have despite the size of the bag: blotting powder (currently Fenty Invisimatte) for them oily days, lip balm (currently Glossier Balm Dotcom) because chapped isn't cute! And a lipstick that can double as blush (currently Laura Mercier Stickgloss) for the versatile cuties. My favorite bag? No one asked, but it's so cute I have to hype it up. The Prada “Elektra” Bag in black & red colorway with silver stud hardware. You know, casual. If I can squeeze a moisturizing hand cream and a hand sanitizer in a bag then I'm really just pushing it, but ew, germs!
